SAFETY:
Much of this curriculum is hands-on which requires students to maintain full attention and utmost care to safety practices to keep themselves and others safe. Not following safety and class rules, classroom conduct, not paying attention, and any situation deemed unsafe by the instructor will result in disciplinary action and possible removal from the shop area and class.
Safety of the student is of utmost importance to our program and therefore safety concerns are dealt with immediately and usually with a disciplinary action. By not following safety rules you are not only putting yourself in danger, but other students as well.

Class rules / conduct expectations:
- Be on time to class and come prepared – Students are to be ready to start class when the bell rings. They will not be permitted to leave the room to get class material, which may affect participation grades.
- Do not disrupt the learning process – Be respectful. This includes talking to others about topics other than Technology and interrupting others. (NO EXCESSIVE TALKING OR PROFANITY)
- Follow all directions the first time they are given – Time is so important to make a successful and enjoyable learning environment. Following directions will allow class to run smoothly and allow for more activities.
- Be RESPONSIBLE – Students are to report any and all problems that may occur with all classroom and shop materials and supplies

cell phone policy:
Cell phones are very much a part of today’s society. There will be many opportunities to utilize and access cell phones for academic purposes. If a student has their cell phone out without permission, it will be confiscated and submitted to the office per school policy.
Grading and Classroom Procedures:
Grading procedures for this class will comply with Bedford County Public Schools Policy for grading. No one assessment may be weighted more than 15% of the grade for any grading period. Homework assignments may not be weighted more than 10% of any grading period. Note: Materials and Processes is a class that requires active participation on a regular basis. Participation and effort are very important part of your grade.
Nine week grades are determined by a point system (i.e. total points earned divided by total points possible). If you have a graded assignment worth 75 points, you will see (when it is returned to you) a number above the 75. For example, if you missed 5 you will see 70/75. You take 70 and divide it by 75 to get 93%.
Points are earned from class participation, worksheets, quizzes (including safety quizzes), tests, and projects. The point value assigned to each of these tasks is based on the amount of information and work required to successfully complete them. The following grading scale is established by the Bedford County School Board:

Please see the policy in your student handbook regarding the time allowed to make up work due to excused absences.
